Jeffrey Loewenstein Ph.D. and Matthew A. Cronin Ph.D.

Matthew A. Cronin is an Associate Professor in the School of Management at George Mason University, and the 2016-2017 Conflict Management Division Chair of the Academy of Management. He is also an Associate Editor at The Academy of Management Annals and Organizational Psychology Review. He received his Ph.D. in Organizational Behavior from Carnegie Mellon University. Dr. Cronin’s research seeks to understand how to make collaboration more creative and effective. His research has appeared in top-tier management publications such as The Academy of Management Review, The Annals of Management, and Management Science, and has been mentioned in The Boston Globe, Fortune, and the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland. His book, The Craft of Creativity (Stanford University Press) will be out in April 2018. He is currently co-authoring a textbook on negotiation, The Influential Negotiator (Sage Publishing) that will be out in 2020. Before re-entering academia, Dr. Cronin was president of Avalon Internetworking Corporation, LLC which provided B2B networking solutions to a wide variety of New York Metro area companies. He currently serves as Chief Scientific Advisor for Process Metrics, an applied research organization that studies how aspects of team collaboration, as perceived by team members, can be used as lead indicators of schedule slippage, cost overruns, and safety hazards in large scale hospital construction projects. Jeffrey Loewenstein is an Associate Professor at the Gies College of Business and the Carle-Illinois College of Medicine at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign. He received his B.S. from the University of Michigan, his Ph.D. from Northwestern University, and taught previously at the Kellogg School of Management, Columbia Business School and The University of Texas at Austin. Dr. Loewenstein’s research examines how people develop knowledge, primarily through studying analogy, categories, creativity, and vocabularies. His work provides guidance for creative thinking, negotiation, and leadership. His work has been published in top academic journals in management, marketing, and psychology, such as Academy of Management Journal, Organization Science, Journal of Marketing, and Cognitive Psychology. He has presented his research in over 100 talks at conferences and leading universities around the world. He regularly provides research-based guidance to leading global companies and non-profit organizations to improve their functioning. His co-authored book, The Craft of Creativity (Stanford University Press) will be out in April 2018.
